It's hard to believe that 2008 has come and (almost) gone. So much has happened over the last year that I can be thankful for. I have 2 beautiful, healthy children,a wonderful husband, a loving family, a job, a house, etc, etc. There have been bumps in the road, of course, but God has blessed us so much!
Our Christmas was wonderful. We had a nice, quiet day with my parents here in Albuquerque. It was quite different to the busy family dinners of years past, but still nice. My mom got us a Wii for Christmas, so we set it up and had a family competition. Verdict: I cannot play Wii golf, but I rock at bowling! (I'm not sure what that says about me). The kids were so excited for their gifts and had fun leaving the house a complete disaster. I'm not sure we'll ever recover!
On the day after Christmas, we drove up to Dave's parents house to spend some time with them. The roads were covered in snow and ice, and we contemplated turning around to come home. We even came upon a terrible wreck only moments after it happened. Dave hopped out of the car to help, only to discover that 2 of the people in one car were already deceased. It put a damper on our Christmas spirits, but it also made us realize how precious and fragile life is. We continued on our way and had a wonderful time visiting. Garrett had a blast playing in the 2 feet of snow at Grandma's house, even though the temperature was -10 degrees. That's negative ten degrees!! We made him wait until "warmed up" to zero before he went outside. Paige suited up and went out, but returned to the safety of the house after about 2 minutes. Smart girl!
So this leaves us trying to decide how to ring in the New Year. We hope you all are happy and healthy, and pray that you will praise God for all he has done!
